This week Jessica Lauryn visits the blog. Jessica writes bad boys who have demons of their own to face, usually while trying to seduce their respective heroines, but she throws in twists like magic and suspense. Who doesn't love action, suspense, romance and magic? Jessica's recent release is A PASSIONATE PLAY and her tagline is In the Midst of Danger, Passion Abounds. Today I asked her one question on what made her choose romantic suspense.
BBTF: What attracted you to the romantic suspense genre?
Jessica: I enjoy stories about deep, complex characters. I thrive on conflict and danger, which is why I'm so passionate about the romantic suspense genre. I'm not big on gory violence, or villains who are particularly crude or over-the-top diabolical, rather I like villains who are soulful characters themselves, and oftentimes I reform them in a subsequent story. Danger naturally fuels suspense, and I like having plenty of it, both in the stories I read and write alike. Danger creates a world of opportunities for two characters to come together. This natural flow of circumstances increases the excitement and may force an unlikely hero and heroine to face their desires as well as their feelings for one another. I may dabble in historic romance at some point but for now, I'm enjoying setting all of my stories in the present day which reinforces the notion that romance is thriving as much today as it ever was. With this thought in mind, I hope to encourage everyone to make romance an important part of their lives.
