This week B.A. Tortuga visits the blog. I met B.A. in 2011 at the Erotic Authors Association conference in Las Vegas and talked to her about writing a centaur fantasy story for her publishing house, Torquere Press. Times have changed and the stories have come and gone, but my friendship with B.A. has endured. B.A. writes m/m and m/m/f cowboy romance, and her brand is Rednecks & Romance. Today I asked her one question about how moving from Texas to a new state as influenced her writing.
BBTF: You recently moved from your home state of Texas. How has the move influenced and changed your writing?
B.A.: Lord. I have to say that, while I will always write the Texas cowboys I know, I have become enchanted with the people of New Mexico. I’ve written a number of Native Americans since I moved and, now that I have had a chance to meet more and more people, I find myself embracing the lifestyle -- it’s very accepting and open and there’s something about the light here that I find myself wanting to share with everyone. Also, I have to admit, I’m becoming one of those dried-apple desert women (I’ve gone gray and native), so that’s a whole new mindset to write about.
Well it is known as the Land of Enchantment. You can find out more about B.A. Tortuga's books on her website. Be sure to buy a book and tell a friend. Happy reading!
